What User Experience is all about?
In modern days User Experience is what a consumer experience while purchasing, using, or doing anything that involves a product, service, etc. Whether it’s free or paid it doesn’t matter.
In terms of online services and sales easy to get there should be a website’s motto. If a website is taking time much longer then he expected for his required products or it’s not very comfortable to understand the website structure it might be an issue for visitor which directly affects the website’s performance.
Today due to the technological advancements everyone is getting online and for the same reason, the user interface needs to be much more compatible and easy to use. As user experience has utmost importance in how successful a product should be we must consider the following steps before starting product development.
1. Domain Research:
Each product or application caters a particular domain. So, to design the user interface with a good user experience it is important to understand the domain and have a brief understanding of the functionality and overall process structure.
After having a hold on domain level understanding you can now understand your audience. Also, try to make your domain much more specific to your product that makes the visitors understand what it is on the first glance over it.
2. Know Your Audience:
Before working on a website or application you should always know who your audience is and who will be going to use your software or application. Different age groups, genders, culture, etc are some of the types in group category which you need to be seen and analyzed who is perfect to be your audience.
Based on target audience knowledge and the domain knowledge you are ready to inquire about what you have learned so far.
3. Ask them:
This Process could be considered to be the most important in the whole User Experience Research. As User experience name itself starts with “user”. Here you need two things Domain testing and audience comfortability with domain and designs of website or application.
Try to analyze domain with the help of target audience sample here. Try to select the domain which is much more descriptive and explainable to them. They should recognize the inside by reading the domain name itself.
In this survey process, you can understand their comfortability with a website or application interface also. With this flow of current navigation, you can process the designs and structure as per current understanding. The next process with sketching and wireframing you can process a website design interface much better for the audience.
Here you can have proper wireframes explaining a process flow simulating each navigation and user click or rough sketches based on your understanding with respect to the target audience and their ease and comfort. Now with the data of the previous process, you can process the sketching and wireframing accordingly.
As per the audience survey you can now process a final workflow or a few sample workflows for an initial start that can be prototyped as a static application. Also in sketching, we need to take care of one thing for sure that is how many clicks it is taking to get me to my genre of requirement. In a website maybe E-commerce or service provider we always need to see the final required result is not more than 4 to 5 clicks away from the page.
The prototype is a sample of websites and applications in this scenario that serves as a base for future models. This gives a viewpoint for other alternatives and changes that might be required in the final model. Here the user will actually have the look and feel that they might have once the product or application goes live.
Now when the users are part of simulation their opinions shall change and new queries shall arrive we must try to cater as many points or suggestions as possible to enhance the overall output. This could be done with them in well-mannered process of initializing a prototype after previous steps, reviews from the genuine target sample and revising it as required. After having the changes done with respect to suggestions and opinions received you can now go for the next step.
6. Improvisation & Enhancement:
Improvisation and enhancement is the basic requirement of any successful product, website, application, etc. Anything and everything needs to be improvised in one or another way. Consider technology advancements that took a rapid development in the last 10 years and we can know how things change and we adopt the new things being much more comfortable with it.
Improvisation and enhancement will not always be as per the technology itself but also the trends. Today we get attracted to ongoing trends easily whether it might be related to technology, habits, applications, or anything. Thus, in the same way, we can work in the sector of website and applications. If you consider chatting and communicating apps they just got stuck to us as we got introduced to them but they do try to keep improving them on small time periods which excites us much more.
7. Easy Development:
Now we do have a report and the final prototype on which we need to work. We need to work on final development which might be much easier and compatible as a user might like it to be.
The changes, the additions, and the modifications will be quiet simple due to the report that has been created after the survey. Without any issues, the development could be done and processed as required by the target customers.
8. Less during development changes:
The survey, reports and further developments take quite a time in the whole process. This might have been the most time-consuming work in case of the whole process. There is much more work which needs to be taken care of accordingly.
During development changes that are required to be taken care of are the internal changes of a website or application. Over here when we are developing UI and balancing application as per the customer’s point of view we cannot spend too much time in development. While in this case there won’t be much required. Thus overcoming the in development required changes and moving ahead should be done now.
9. Less Customization:
Customizations are the variations that we allow or the user’s requests the application or website to create for self or a chunk of users. This is again somehow easy and less work required process as when product or application or website was deployed it was after interacting with a bunch of sample end users.
Thus, the customization requirement might surely have been suggested and developed before. Still, there are always some or other required changes which we could know after launching. Accordingly, we could customize the application easily with little changes and less effort.
10. Higher acceptance by the users:
Higher acceptance should be our main target for which higher comfortability, accessibility, and easy user interface should be our basic development in it. As per the explained points, we can surely achieve comfort, accessibility and easy user interface from users or target’s perspective.
These might directly cause the benefit of higher acceptance when the actual target has been introduced to the application. The comfort itself does marketing. Similarly, a comfortable website or application will end up getting much more active users or viewers.
11. Overall business profit because of more users:
Today you might be using one of the best applications to chat, search or just even scroll through memes. The point here is why you are using that. There is not always a single reason for such a thing. You sure have an alternate choice of application or website that caters the same service or experience.
Here you are using that because it is much more comfortable or affordable or better in some sense than any other similar application and the same cause is getting much more users to get on it.
In a similar way, if your application or website has a great user interface, that gives the best user experience, it might get you above your competitors soon enough. This will directly lead you to earn the profit which was the motto of all this process with serving the people in the right way.
As explained in the article we need to have a proper understanding of people want before working on a website or application and also before deploying it completely we need to do some test with a bunch of target users which might help us to improvise and give the users the best experience of anything and everything.
